What happened to Sonara?
Sonara was an early, fully hands-off auto-apply service: it found jobs and submitted applications without you reviewing each one. The original company shut down on 1 February 2024 after failing to raise funding, and users lost access to their application queues. BOLD, the company behind Zety, LiveCareer and MyPerfectResume, acquired the brand later that year and relaunched it; sonara.ai is live again. Third-party reviews report different prices for the relaunched service, so confirm the price and billing cycle at checkout.
What to look for in a replacement
- A review step, so you see what is sent in your name.
- Your data stays exportable, so a shutdown never wipes your job search.
- Clear answers on sensitive questions such as sponsorship and self-identification.
- Applications on the employer's own site, where you can confirm they arrived.
1. InterviewBoost AI Apply
AI Apply applies on company career sites (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday and more) with a resume tailored to each job and a screenshot of every submitted form.
- Control: Review, Hybrid or Auto mode, daily and per-company limits, pause any time.
- Your data: export everything from your account settings at any time.
- Pricing: $19, $39 or $79 a month; 7-day free trial with 3 applications.
- Trade-off: no LinkedIn or Indeed applications.
2. AIApply
AIApply is also hands-off: it matches jobs, writes a tailored resume and cover letter for each and applies based on your filters, sold with credits.
3. LazyApply
LazyApply is the volume option, with yearly plans from $99 for 15 applications a day up to $999 for 1,500 a day.
4. Simplify
Simplify Copilot is the opposite of Sonara: a free extension that autofills forms while you submit each application yourself.
Bottom line
If you liked Sonara's hands-off approach but want to see what goes out, start InterviewBoost in Review mode and switch to Hybrid once you trust the matches. Our AI auto apply guide walks through the setup.
